LMD: Have you found out the identity of anonymous?
Bobby V: No. I am still searching for her. The whole song
concept is when a man or woman is looking for something
or someone, it is right under our noses. Like I say in the song I took one step and took two back.
You think you found that special person you been looking for
but you already had that special person and you looked
right over that person.
LMD: What features and producers are on your album
Bobby V: Special Occasion in stores right now so go get
it if you don’t have it. I have Timberland on the album.
Tim & Bob did a couple of tracks. He produced most of
my last album. Rodney Jerkins, Bryan Coxx, and Sean
Garrett are on the album. My album is filled with hit
makers from the beginning to the end. There are alot of
different sounds but it is still Bobby V. Due to the suc-
cess of my first album it opened doors so I could work
with some of my favorite producers like Timberland and
of course Tiim & Bob again. As far as features there is
Ludacris, Fabulous, and Timberland.
LMD: How is Special Occasion different from your first
Bobby V: Pretty much working with different producers
and having a bigger budget to produce my album. My
song Anonymous was produced by Timberland and my
next single too featuring Ludacris.
LMD: Will you be touring soon?
Bobby V: I will start touring late summer and early fall
of this year and I am working on a tour with Tank.
LMD: How do you feel about the direction that R&B is
Bobby V: I feel R&B is lost. I am glad to be apart of the
movement to bring R&B back. I feel rap is big right now
and I feel people are getting caught up in the trends.
R&B artists are trying to do alot of songs with rappers
and lease R&B on their album. I just try to stay true to
myself and R&B. I think back to Jodeci, Boyz II Men,
and Marvin Gaye. They did the music that touched the
soul. They did R&B. They did not conform to rap they
stayed true to soul music.
LMD: Who is your favorite new and old school R&B
Bobby V: I have to say myself for the new artist. I
feel my music is different from other artist out right now.
As far as old school I have to say Anita Baker cause
she kills songs vocally. I grew up listening to Anita due
to my listening to her music. I also like Babyface. I
remade a song by him on my album As Soon As I Get
Home. He is a great songwriter and artist and I look
up to him. I hope to be where he is oneday.
LMD: Briefly sum up an average day of your life.
Bobby V: I wake at 7am. I do radio and have a meet
and greet. I eat and work out. I go do a show. Some
times two. Go to bed around 4am and sleep maybe
three hours. I get on a plane and go to another city to
do it over again.
LMD: Is there anythingelse you would like to comment
Bobby V: Go pick up the album. Love you guys and
thanks for interviewing me. I love all my fans and I
hope to see you soon in a city near you.
